Lux journal seeks cover art for debut issue

Lux, the undergraduate research journal at UVA-Wise, is seeking a student created artwork that reflects the theme of “light” for our first cover.

We welcome printable depictions of art of any kind from jewelry, fabric art, ceramics, and sculpture, to screen printing, photography, digital art and drawing or painting that expresses in some way the concept of “light.”

The artist must be a student or alumni no more than three years past graduation from UVA-Wise.  There is no time frame in which the work must have been created, but it must be available for use after March 16, 2018.

The work can be collaborative as long as all artists submit an application.  We will accept only one submission per student so please choose your best work. Photograph your work with a digital camera or scan it using best quality standards. No substitutions or revisions will be accepted and submissions will not be returned.  This contest is free to enter. We will accept only .jpg or .gif file formats.  Submissions must be at least 72 dpi and 200 KB and should not exceed 5MB.

Submit your work by email along with a submission application ( available at to: by midnight 3/16/18.

Contest winners will be featured on the cover of the historic first issue of Lux coming out in Fall 2018.

All submissions must reflect the theme and be original, unpublished, and cannot infringe on the rights of any other person, place, organization, or work. Participation in the contest grants Lux the right to use and adapt the submission as needed for current and future publication, marketing, or social media needs.
