DUFFIELD, Va. – Natural Tunnel State Park will be hosting a Full Moon Hike Feb 19 at 5:30 p.m.
According to the park’s website, this event will allow hikers the opportunity to “watch the moon rise over the mountains and hear stories about the thrilling night life.” This hike is open to the public and suitable for children.
Hikers will travel in groups guided by Bill Cawood. These groups will be taken on a 1.2-mile round trip on a semi-moderate trail consisting of dirt and grass. Because of trail conditions, Natural Tunnel requires that hikers wear sturdy hiking shoes. Hikers are required to bring flashlights or headlamps for the return trip and should dress for the weather.
The hike’s destination will be The Gazebo where hikers will be able to watch the moon rise.
The hike will take place from 5:30 – 7 p.m. and is free to everyone. The event will begin at The Blockhouse Parking Lot. Natural Tunnel State Park is located at 1420 Natural Tunnel Pkwy., Duffield, Va. and hosts a variety of events throughout the year.
