WISE – A new year is bringing changes to UVa-Wise’s Compliance, Conduct and Inclusion offices.
The Office of Compliance, Conduct and Inclusion has been split into two separate offices. Conduct will now be handled through the Division of Student Affairs Office and the Office of Compliance and Inclusion will now operate separately from student conduct.
Jewell Worley – previously the Associate Vice Chancellor of Compliance, Conduct and Inclusion – now serves as the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
Brittany Jones works underneath Worley as the Assistant Director of Conduct and Responsibility. Jones – previously the Assistant Director of Residence Life – will continue in that role through the end of the semester.
Title IX Coordinator Tabitha Smith has now taken on the role of Director of Compliance and Inclusion. Former Assistant Director of Housing Occupancy and Operations Tonya Large is now the coordinator for compliance operations and works directly under Smith.
“I want the students to know where to go and that they still have all the resources even though things have changed,” Smith said. “The counseling center is still here and students should still know they can come to the Title IX office.”
The college is looking to fill two vacant positions: assistant director of compliance and assistant director of diversity and inclusion.
The Office of Compliance and Inclusion is located on the second floor of Cantrell Hall where the Office of Compliance, Conduct and Inclusion was previously. The Division of Student Affairs Office and Housing Office will both share the first floor of Cantrell Hall in the Housing Office space.
