WISE – Six graduate schools are coming to the University of Virginia’s College at Wise Nov. 5 to provide information to all students about various graduate programs.
UVa-Wise will host a Graduate Fair Expo from 4 – 7p.m. in the Cantrell Banquet Hall. Schools represented at the Expo include Liberty University, Mary Baldwin University, Radford University, Lincoln Memorial University, Tusculum University and The Appalachian School of Law.
Every year, Assistant Director of Professional and Career Development Neva Bryan attempts to host a graduate fair for students.
Any student can attend the Expo, whether they be a freshmen or alumni. The fair encourages students to pursue a postgraduate education in their desired field.
“They can give you not some insight on the program itself, but what’s life is like at that college, what’s the geographic area is like,” Bryan said. “It’s also really good practice for students to practice small talk with total strangers because if you’re going on to graduate or medical school you usually have to do interviews. This is a good step for teaching students how to network.”
If students have questions about a particular graduate school who will not be attending the fair, Bryan suggests they go online to the school’s website and contact the graduate school’s graduate recruiter.
