Two UVa-Wise students are in custody after Wise County Sheriff’s deputies found drugs and weapons at a Walk to Campus apartment Friday.
According to a statement posted on the Sheriff’s Office Facebook page Friday, Jeremiah Alexander Jordan and Trevarian Deonte Clark, both 21, were arrested after county Deputy Ryan Adkins came to Apartment 303, 5632 Campus Ridge Drive in response to a noise complaint called in to county Central Dispatch.
According to the Facebook posting, Adkins detected a strong marijuana odor coming from the apartment. He talked with Jordan about the odor, the post stated, and Jordan admitted to smoking marijuana. Adkins also observed drug evidence inside the apartment. The apartment was secured and a search warrant was obtained.
Deputies seized several marijuana joints, digital scales, jars of marijuana, hydrocodone schedule II pills, a vacuum sealer and bags, white unknown powder, several unknown pills, an unknown liquid, loaded pistol, loaded rifle and thousands of dollars in cash.
Jordan and roommate Clark were charged with possession of schedule II drugs with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of firearms with intent to distribute drugs.
Both men are being held at Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Duffield with no bond.
The unknown substances were packaged and sent to the state Department of Forensic Science for analysis. According to the Facebook posting, additional charges are possible.
