Tennis Struggles in Second Half of Season

The UVa-Wise women’s tennis team faced the University of Pikeville on March 16 at the Jim & Betty Humphrey’s Tennis Complex.

The Cavs were defeated 6-3 after Pikeville took two out of three doubles matches and four out of six singles matches.

The match on March 16 is the only match that the women’s team will play this spring due to weather. The Cavs will continue to practice and prepare for next fall’s championship season.

The men’s tennis team also took on the University of Pikeville on March 16. They also sturggled to claim a victory.

The Cavs fell 9-0 after failing to capture a single match win. The closest the Cavs would come to a match win was Vladyslav Akimenko’s close contest versus Pikeville’s Enzo Douillac. Douillac won the match with a final of 5-7, 6-2, 7-5.

The men now face a series of road matches which started March 19 with a non-conference match against Davis & Elkins College.
