Each year, in the midst of new buildings emerging, technology expanding and student life improving, UVa-Wise provides compelling lectures by guest speakers from all over the world.
Miki Agrawal, a serial social entrepreneur and best-selling author, will talk on campus March 30 about starting a business and developing the audacity needed to succeed in the business world.
Agrawal is a former professional soccer player and a graduate of Cornell University. Agrawal’s present-day endeavors are enhancing the lives of many individuals across the world and redefining the way society views personal hygiene sanitization methods.
Agrawal’s new approach method quickly grew with success, and her company THINX helped address feminine hygiene by helping more than 30,000 girls in Uganda return to school from the company’s promise of funding a pack of reusable cloth pads for every undergarment sold. THINX was named one of Time Magazine’s Best New Inventions of 2015.
Along with recognition in Time Magazine and GOOD Magazine, Forbes Magazine named Agrawal one of the “Top 20 Millennials on a Mission.” Agrawal’s motivational lecture will be held on the fifth floor of the Slemp Student Center March 30 at 1 p.m. as part of the Alfred and Shirley Wampler Caudill Lecture in Entrepreneurship Series. Agrawal will help students, future entrepreneurs and individuals interested in the field to achieve their goals in order to have an authentic lifestyle and create an accomplished life.
Agrawal’s presentation is open to the public and will count as a cultural credit for students.
