The Force is strong with this one.
The wait was over for many anxious fans as “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, the seventh movie of the series, was released in December. Movie theaters all over the globe were packed as fans rushed to see the first Star Wars movie in 10 years. As famous as the series was back when it first released, the thought of the renewed screenplay, a new adventure to revel in, as well as the addition of the original characters had new and old fans alike eager to see it.
Thirty years after Rebel forces defeated the Galactic Empire, the galaxy is faced with a new threat from the First Order, led by Kylo Ren. Their goal is to locate Luke Skywalker, the last Jedi, and destroy him. As the First Order seeks to find the map that shows the location of Skywalker, Rebel forces are protecting it. A piece of the map is held in a droid called BB-8, who ends up on the planet of Jakku after the First Order destroys its home planet.
BB-8 meets with a girl named Rey, a scavenger on the planet of Jakku who lost her parents and is awaiting their return. The two meet with a man who is called Finn, a former Stormtrooper who left the First Order to fight against them and crashed in his escape. The new trio escape the planet on the Millennium Falcon and find themselves soon teamed up with the ship’s original owners: Han Solo and Chewbacca.
As Rebel forces are trying to find the remaining piece of the map to Luke, Kylo Ren and the First Order are on their tail and inevitably capture Rey. Luckily for her, she unknowingly has the power of The Force and is able to escape inside the Star Destroyer, alongside Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Finn. In the meantime, General Leia and her team come up with a way to defeat the First Order.
Han Solo ends up face to face with Kylo Ren, who is actually his and Leia’s son. Unfortunately, Han meets his end when Kylo stabs him with his lightsaber. Sorry, everyone. Han is not invincible. This leads to an all-out brawl, the defeat of the First Order, and to the Rebel forces finding the pieces of the map to Luke Skywalker.
There are many theories and questions that viewers find that are unanswered in “The Force Awakens”. Some believe that Rey is Luke Skywalker’s daughter due to her natural, untrained knowledge of The Force. If not, what happened to Rey’s actual parents? What is Finn’s backstory? Who was the real reason that Luke ran away? Fans are going to have to wait in anticipation a little while longer as Episode VIII isn’t scheduled to release until Dec. 15, 2017. This new trilogy will allow fans to revel in the series once again.
Stay strong, and may The Force be with you.
