Medieval-Renaissance Conference Tribute to Jack and Catherine Mahony

UVa-Wise’s 29th Medieval-Renaissance Conference Committee will host a tribute to late Professors of English Jack and Catherine Mahony on Thursday, September 24, 3:30-4:20 p.m., in the Chapel of All Faiths.

Catherine passed away this summer. She joined the College faculty in 1968 and retired in 2003. A devoted and beloved teacher and author, she earned the admiration and respect of colleagues and students alike. Later generations at the college came to know Catherine through her numerous contributions of poetry and fiction to the college’s literary journal, ‘Jimson Weed.’ Jack co-founded and organized the conference with Professor Emeritus of English Richard H. Peake in 1987.

Those who knew Jack and Catherine are welcome to offer readings and reflections at the tribute. Please contact Ken Tiller – kjt9t@uvawise.edu – by Tuesday afternoon, September 22 if you would like to present.
